Salt Grass used to be our very favorite restaurant when we lived in the Dallas area. However, we moved away and were very excited to see a Salt Grass when we were traveling through Shreveport. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Everything was perfect. Maurice was our waiter --- AWESOME. Our 12 oz rib-eye was perfect. It was cooked half way between medium and medium-rare. The side salad was delicious. As I said, nothing short of perfect here. Our favorite steak house continues to be Salt Grass.

    One of my friends wanted to take a road trip to Shreveport for her birthday. We did. We got there and walked around the Boardwalk for an hour or so, then decided to look for something to eat. She suggested Saltgrass and we obliged. I'm not really a red meat guy, but the steak was superb. My issues were the service of the hostess and the server/waitress; The female hostess made some very inappropriate comments about my friend's rear end. It was slightly offensive, but we pressed on. The waitress, Dear Jesus, was so slow with everything that she did. I'm sorry, but as a former food service employee, my 'tip' was reflected in the service-- no service= no tip. I don't think I will return to Saltgrass; It was quite pricey for the service that was received. Outback Steakhouse will probably get my 'steak money' going forward;

Just ok. The service was slow. When my food came out, the mashed potatoes were cold, not even warm. The ribs seemed like they were prepared hours in advance and reheated, they tasted ok, but you could tell. Pretty expensive for what you get. Waiter was dumb and didn't even ask if he could heat up my potatoes.

Delicious and clean Restraunt.... Took a minute for someone to come and seat us but once they did we had a great lunch/dinner. It was slow time of day and they also have a great place outside to enjoy your meal! They also have alright lunch specials

Reasonable chain restaurant. None of the food offerings blew me away, but it's clean and comfortable and the staff are pretty good. I was in town for work looking for a quick and easy meal after a long day.

Went for lunch with 3 other people. Had the grilled chicken and steamed broccoli. Others had the wedge salad and a different chicken dish. Food was good. Service was slow but when the person got there it was a good experience.

Frustrating because I couldn't even get a seat. We have a two month old that was in a stroller, when we walked in I was asked how many in the party. I said 5 & 1/2. The hostess said 6? I asked sure if you count her as one which she replied 'well we have to make space for her.' She then advised us that we couldn't bring thr stroller into the dining area. She said they could watch it up there in the entrance, well wow not sure what to say about that we left promptly with no attempt from the hostess to stop us. Glad we left we ate at Ralph and Kacoos it was amazing and I gave them a well deserved five star review stay away from Saltgrass Steakhouse if you have a baby.

Great place, great food awesome service. Will definitely come back if I'm in town again. Don't understand why anyone would rate it anything but 5 stars.

Took us 30 minutes to be seated, which I don't mind if the service and food is good. Our waitress came over quickly and was very friendly. We placed our drink and entree orders then proceeded to wait another 20 minutes. Waitress finally came by with our salad, bread and water. Still haven't gotten our drinks. Finished salads and our drinks finally arrive. They brought me the wrong drink. A few minutes goes by and our entrees finally arrive. The food was good, but way overpriced for what we got. Took over 10 minutes for them to run my credit card. Will not be going back.

The food was delicious and prices were very reasonable. Our server was very attentive and didn't give us any problems about splitting the bill as we were there during a business trip.

If you come in to a Saltgrass Steak House with the impression that you'll be eating prime beef, similar to a Ruth's Chris, you'll be disappointed. If you come in here realizing that it is a stereotypical Texas themed (Think Roadhouse) steak house, you'll leave with a Kool Aid smile on your face. Here's what I like about Salt Grass: -The steaks are always decent, and prepared properly. -The portion sizes are generous; no dwarf size plates here! -The prices are reasonable- -The service has always been good, if not better. In my view, Salt Grass is the best option in the mid-range steak groups (e.g., Outback, Logans, etc.). On this particular visit, we popped in over Labor Day weekend, and were seated in a few minutes. My NY Strip was a perfectly prepared med rare. The wife opted for the chicken fried steak, which was amazing. Deduct 1 star for their dismal wine list, and overpriced, weak cocktails. Stick with the beer, and you'll do much better. Be smart! I will return when in Bossier City.

We came here for lunch one day on our trip. We weren't thinking of bbq to eat for lunch. We just wanted something that wouldn't fill us up too much since we were anticipating a larger dinner. We all ended up ordering the cheesesteak sandwich with Angus beef with a side of soup and our choice of another side. The cheesesteak sandwich was decent, I enjoyed my chicken tortilla soup (could have been a bit warmer), and what I liked was that I could choose steamed veggies as a side. The other people at the table ordered the beef soup for their choice along with different french fried potatoes (one ordered steak and the other was a traditional style). The best part about this place was the server we had. She was excellent, constantly making sure we had plenty of beer bread, explaining the new menu items to us, and making sure we had plenty of soda refills (not just a refill, but a brand new glass of soda when maybe 1/4 of the glass was empty). Oh, and she even scraped off the crumbs from the beer bread before placing our plates of food on the table before us. She didn't want us to be eating with crumbs near our plates. This is a 3 star kind of restaurant, but the server bumped it up to a 4.

Usually the food and service is always good at Saltgrass but this last trip was the exception. The food was good but service was terrible. The hostess barely said a word to us and had an attitude. Our waiter was very slow and it took FOREVER to get drinks, and it took WAY TOO LONG for him to take our order. Twice we had to flag down another waiter to get service. Very disappointing.

We've been here a few times now, and it's been horrible on every occasion (don't say I didn't give them a chance!). The location is great; there aren't many options for food on the Boardwalk, and being on the Riverfront makes it prime real estate for catering to people who want to sit on the patio and take in the view while they dine. Unfortunately, the food is okay but nothing to go out of your way for, and service is bad enough to make me avoid this place for good. On one occasion, our waitress and stood at the bar the entire time talking with the bartender about how happy she was to be leaving soon and how glad she was they were closing early. She was only a few feet away and not even trying to be out of earshot while she ignored us for 30 minutes in favor of a vapid conversation. Halfway through our visit, she just kind of stopped helping us and stood in the back while someone else became our waiter. The menu isn't very impressive, but the whole point of going there is for steak, right? The steak was okay -- everything was pretty mediocre, including our drinks. At the end of the meal, our original waitress came back and asked us how our food was. We answered honestly, "Meh" and she offered to get the manager very quickly. We declined and opted to leave as quickly as possible, with the waitress apologetically calling after us and hoping we'd come back again soon. We won't.

Saltgrass Steak was conveniently located near our hotel. The food met our expectations was properly prepared. The location is great and part of the walkway. Prices were a bit high as it is part of a resort situation and near casinos. The ambiance was quite nice but the main reason for the review was the superior service. Everyone was very friendly and our waitress, Alyssa, was very good, helpful with an excellent personality. It is as they say, A-OK.

Eat Here! This place is about value and quality, add to that service and variety. The portions are huge. Very generous portions, expertly prepared. Kyle, the server is an exceptional waiter. Very tentative and knowledgable if the meanie. I'll be back. In fact I are there twice this week! Eat Here!!

Well, it was probably our fault for picking a chain, but we wanted uniformity. I went into a Saltgrass Steak House about six years ago in Colorado to grab a job application for a friend. It seemed like a nice place for a romantic date. Tonight was our 16th anniversary and we're actually celebrating next weekend in Dallas so we didn't need anything TOO nice. Anyway, we dressed up in our "Sunday Best" (nothing overly formal). We walk in and almost walked right out. People wore jeans and t- shirts. There wasn't anything romantic or fine about the place. Stuffed dead animals lined the walls and the carpet was hideous. We were lead into a large dining area with tables just stuffed in. I asked for a booth since it was away from the masses, but maybe that was a mistake; my husband couldn't get over the large mural with John Wayne behind me and the fact it looked like he was grabbing my hair. *sigh* I asked for water without lemon and was brought water with lemon. The bread came out. The sandwich bread I bake weekly was much better than this. Our salads came next. The vegetables were fresh, however there was way too much cheese on top. We ordered the fried onions (because isn't that the law in a steakhouse?) but they weren't anything special and the dipping sauce had a very strong ketchup taste. My steak (the 9 oz sirloin) was phenomenal. My baked potato (covered in sour cream, butter and chives) was dry. They did not salt nor oil the skin. I didn't even eat four bites. My husband's mashed potatoes lacked flavor. There was a pile of fried onions on our plates. I wish she had said that would be there before we ordered and we could have saved the $7 on the appetizer. I asked for a box for my potato, thinking one of the boys might like it, and our server left, stopped at another table, went to the kitchen and dropped a box off at that other table. She brought us the check; no box. She was nice at least. I do not think we would go bac

This place is some real good food! Even if I'm full I still finish my plate. It is just that good! Rib Eye with Mushrooms and Onions! Yum! I think I had a crab something or other appetizer which I was real hesitant about. Now I will get it every time! The staff is alway great! I usually go at night though. If you want to get tanked get the Texas Tea! OMG!

Ordered 16oz prime rib medium rare with asparagus. Rub used on the meat a little to peppery for my taste , good thing Stella Artois was there to wash it down. Really great service. Wait staff took really good care of our party of 8!

You can't get there following GPS and if you aren't familiar with the gigantic shopping center it is in you will make a few wrong turns like we did. We were told that there would be a 40 minute wait but it really was more like 5 minutes. The service was quick and efficient. The food was good- regular Texas steakhouse fare. The chicken Austin which had a creamy artichoke sauce was excellent. The bread just average. Those of us that had steak said theirs was well prepared and seasoned. We were too full for dessert and glad there was a bit of a walk to where the car was parked.

After eating here a few more times, I am going to take them back up to 4 stars. The crab cake app is excellent and service for the most part is very good. They have several managers working here and it seems that some are very customer focused and others not as much. The one working the front on 11/20 eve, seemed to be walking around with no purpose or would hang out front just chatting with hostess. On other nights the other mgrs would stop by the table and check on the food. My go to option here is the filet, which based on the decent price would get the place a 5 star for taste/value, but the kitchen seems to be incapable of cooking it to requested temp. I ordered Med and got Med/Rare, so last night I tried to order med/well and got well. The chix tortilla soup is excellent, although I wish it had a bit more broth. I am hesitant to order the Prime Rib again, as my first experience was nasty. Overall, one of the best steak options in the area based on value and overall experience.

The 16 Oz rib eye was excellent...if you order the rib eye make sure you get it medium or medium rare. I got mine half way between medium and medium rare and it was great. The Mac and cheese is flavorless. .. no flavor that is.

The steak was good. First time ever that I think my "rare" steak might have actually been mooing... perfect for me, but I'm sure there are those who would have said, "I said rare... NOT raw." My TexasTea was one of the best ever... which to me meant I could actually taste the alcohol, compared to, "Ummmm is this all sweet and sour mix?!" I liked the environment better than Texas Roadhouse in that there were no peanut shells... BUT... the tables were packed in tightly. It was a bit much really, and I felt like it was TOO close together. The price was significantly higher than Texas Roadhouse, but the food was comparable overall. I liked it well enough, but I think I'd tolerate the peanut shells at Texas Roadhouse and go there instead. Not only was the steak TWICE the price, Texas Roadhouse has a military discount...

Heard so much about this place how it was so wonderful and all. Highly disappointed. Guess we just didn't order the right steaks. Ordered the cattlemen's prime ribs..Mine had more fat than meat. After I cut all the fat off then the steak tasted just like a pot roast. Ordered French fries with my steak & that was the best part of the meal. My girlfriend also ordered the cattlemen's prim rib & was very unhappy with how hers was also cooked. She ordered medium rare but instead received rare, her baked potato was either old or not cooked all the way had what seemed uncooked chunks in the middle. We couldn't send it back because our waitress literally only took our order & checked on us once the whole meal which happened to be when our order was placed or maybe after we finished picking at our food $3.99 just to have butter added on your steak when they bring it out is a rip off. They weren't that busy for a Sunday night. Maybe 30 people so I do not understand why it was so disappointing. Never again.

Great food! If you get steak, be smart enough to get something other than their cheapest sirloin. It drives me bananas when people complain the steak isn't great but they weren't willing to spring for a filet or ribeye. Also, as a "meatnavor" don't order steak if you aren't willing to get it medium rare. That is like ordering sushi and asking them to microwave it because you don't like raw fish. (This sounds really negative and that's not my intention). Ultimately, just some good 'ol fashioned wonderful food.

This place has an amazing HAPPY HOUR! I will be making the drive to Shreveport again, in my future, just for the $2 margaritas, $3 zucchini sticks, and $4 shrimp tacos, each of which was excellent, delicious, and I'd order again and again. A few friends and I plopped ourselves at the bar and had a nice chat with the bartenders that were so friendly, while sipping and munching on our bar bites during happy hour. Nothing could have gone better, the prices were amazing, the food tastier than tasty, and the staff wonderful. I don't know if I'd go here for dinner or a date, as it seemed like just another steakhouse chain that I'd never heard of before, but I definitely will be back here with the girlfriends for happy hour on the boardwalk!

Went here to try a new restaurant on the Boardwalk here in Shreveport...WISH I HADN'T. Ordered a prime rib and as everyone else's food was coming out they then decided to tell us that they were out of prime rib. They offered something else, but I refused as I wasn't going to wait another 20 minutes as everyone else ate. Friend we came with ordered a Philly cheesesteak with extra onions as he was suggested by the waitress. It came with NO ONIONS and tasted bad. Coincidentally they were out of onions and had to make more...instead of making a new sandwich they brought onions on the side 5 minutes later...after his sandwich was already almost done. He said it wasn't that good and a bartender heard his comment and said "Yeah it's not that good, I've been to Philly and it's nothing like that" Just another Shreveport restaurant trying to fake it as a legit restaurant. Prices and menu make it seem good...Food and issues we dealt with show what it's really like.

This restaurant is average across the board. The steaks are decent, the other food items are decent, the service is good, the amiance is nothing special, and it is overpriced. The only great thing to note is the draft beer comes ice cold in a frosty mug, and the only thing I cant stand is a dollop of butter on my steak! Next time I will keep walking down the boardwalk to try a different restaurant.

I live in Texas .... We have a Saltgrass, when I was sent to LA this means Craw fish or Cajun food right? Wrong! Wrong time of the year, CRAP! So we drive, and park ... the parking lot is pretty nasty, though it is covered. The stink in the stairs (not a fan of elevators) about makes me puke :( plus side there is plenty of fresh air during the 20 minute walk to get to the doors. We get there, they take a while to seat us (party of 12 not surprised.) We hang at the bar, and I kick back a Sam Adams Double Bock .... I thought they stopped making that ... no they just don't send it to Texas apparently .... at least there is GOOD beer - I take my time, we are seated on my second. Steak, it was OK, about the same as we get in Texas .... nothing special. restrooms are really clean. It was OK, just man what a total buzz kill, When you leave the state you should try local cuisine right? The parking lot was horrible, minus 3 stars for about making me give up the dinner I just ate, I actually had to swallow it back down. I guess the elevators were nicer since no one else seemed bothered by it

Very mediocre. I've had better steak and ambiance at chain restaurants. Locals told me to go here and I went based on their suggestion and I'm very disappointed. I ordered the filet with garlic mashed potatoes a side of veggies and chocolate cake for dessert. The steak was tasteless and chewy the peppercorn sauce was plastic tasting. The potatoes were very bland. The cake tasted like hostess. It was cold and dry and not at all worth the calories. Spend your money elsewhere. If you want steak in LA go to superiors steakhouse. Pricey but you get what you pay for.

I've eaten at Saltgrass many times when visiting SHV. I like the food a lot...and the Margaritas kick butt! Standard steakhouse fare which means I never have room for desert! The best part about the place is the wait staff...very helpful and fun. Based on other reviews...maybe I got lucky. It's a bit more expensive than the other restaurants on the Boardwalk, but it's worth the extra few dollars.

Good Food and Great appetizers. The Service was good. The atmosphere is nice and they have good country music playing. The desserts are great. The restaurant is on the Bossier City Boardwalk on the Red River which is Awesome. Tons of shops near by and its close to the Bass Pro.

A fairly popular restaurant located at the Louisiana Boardwalk, the food here was fairly decent, but my reason for giving it two stars is the service. We went there on a busy Saturday night in the middle of the holiday season, so obviously there were a lot of people waiting. We got there and put our names down and they said it would be about a 45-minute wait. We decided to wait and sat outside and waited. And waited. And waited. And waited some more. You get the idea. After about 45 minutes, we checked back with the hostess, and she said it would be another 15 to 20 minutes. So we waited some more. And waited. And... well you get the idea. There was another couple there that we met while waiting for the table who had been waiting about as long as we had and were equally frustrated if not more so. After about another 20 minutes of waiting both we and the other couple went to check with the hostess on the status of our table, and again were told it would be another 20 minutes. At this point I told her about how long we had been waiting and she gave us a bit of an attitude and said there was nothing she could do. So finally I asked to speak to her manager, and guess what? A table suddenly became available for both us and the other couple! As we were being seated I noticed quite a few other empty tables, so why were they telling us it would be 20 minutes before they could seat us? As soon as we were seated, we asked to speak to the manager, and he came to our table right away. He was very nice and apologized to us for the long wait and promised to address the situation with his staff. He also gave us dessert on the house for our troubles. So I'll give him credit for taking care of the situation. Our waiter was also very nice and we got good service for the rest of the night. The food was pretty good; their steaks are about on par with places like Outback and Lone Star. But the 1&1/2 hour long wait and the hostess's attitude just ruined it for us. Would we go again? Maybe, but definitely not when it's busy. Then again, there are a lot of other dining options available at the Boardwalk which are better.

We just went to eat here and we were so excited to get our filet steak and loaded mashed potatoes and we had a roach run across our table. We rushed our butts out of there ASAP.

We won't.
